Faure sticks knife deep into Wavel

In the cold harsh language of Politics, Danny has stuck the knife deep into Wavel.

But in the same devious game in which both players have been exchanging favours behind the scene to suit their interests, shall we say that for now the Cat has caught its Mouse.

President Faure had been playing a cat and mouse game with the LDS in regards to the dissolution of the National Assembly.

He had promised to Wavel that he would not dissolve the National Assembly and the priest was riding high on this promise from this student of Albert Rene. And the LDS hierarchy had taken it in hook, line and sinker –just look at the reaction of both Roger Mancienne and Wavel Ramkalawan when they were shown on SBC television 8pm news on Friday 31st July, the day after the announcement. They were complaining like hell that the big boy at school had taken their candy from them. It was clearly a big shock to both that Danny had done that to the LDS. What makes it harder for them is the fact that they refused to back Patrick Pillay in 2017 to get Danny out of the presidency. Both of them had said that it would be unfair not to allow Danny Faure to finish his mandate. Wavel must be livid and kicking himself where it hurts at the way that Faure has treated him by terminating the National Assembly mandate over one full year before the end of its term. And the fact that Speaker Nicholas Prea never said anything until Wavel saw and heard it live on television like every other mere mortal is so painful. “He should have consulted us…” Wavel said in his SBC interview.

SWAPPING FAVOURS

Faure and Ramkalawan had been exchanging favours behind the scene to suit their political as well as personal interests.

Danny Faure knew exactly how to play Ramkalawan by allowing him to think that he was always in control –when he was really not. Faure entertained his phone calls at any time of the day or night this provided Ramkalawan with a false sense of power over the President. But it was Danny’s little game of the bird getting the big bad wolf in the end. Faure got Wavel to hand over 1.2billion rupees of taxpayers’ money, which he is now using to buy the elections. We are also of the view that Faure got one of his major lieutenant to induce LDS for the ratification of the fisheries agreement with the European Union. The ‘Pa Pou Zanmen Les Tonbe’ party has Let Down Seychellois in a big way. This situation will now put LDS at a great disadvantage going into the October elections. They will not get the SCR700, 000 per monthfor political funding and the MNAs will not be paid salaries beyond July 2020. And the biggest loss will be the airtime opportunity to use live television in the National Assembly to campaign from -two months before a general election. And they were notprepared for the eventuality that Danny has brought upon them by dissolving the National Assembly and holding both elections in October.

He has fooled Wavel not only once but many times. And when one looks back at the way that the presidency of Danny Faure has survived the last four years with a minority in the National Assembly, you would think that he must be a political genius or maybe it’s the LDS who are a bunch of fools?

You really want one of them and their clique as your President?
