Money can’t buy life

Son, “Money can’t buy life” were the final words of the famous Jamaican singer-songwriter Bob Marley to his son Ziggy before his death on May 11, 1981. He was 36 years old when he died of skin cancer.

After listening to LDS’ party political broadcasts, Seychellois have been expressing horror. Some are in a state of panic.

Wavel Ramkalawan, Ahmed Afif, William Rose, Marc Hoareau and the blind followers have been suggesting that they would simply test people and then invite tourists into our country. As simple as that! And money will flow into their pockets.

That is responding to the millionaires’ wish to put money before health. Don’t they know that prevention is better than cure?

Rod Savy Williams said of Wavel on facebook: “That was very stupid on his part. This guy has a way of saying things which sound like verbal diarrhea. Alo Wavel sa. Al deor gete si ou war Covid apre call mon. Konmsi Covid ou kapab vwar ou tann li. En Trump lokal sa enn.”

Now we do not know exactly who, between Wavel and Ahmed, is the local Trump? Wavel has changed after Ahmed, a former technician who stood on the shoulders of giants in the SPPF government, teamed up with him. Wavel used to preach rhetoric out to people and now he has dared venture into proposing economic solutions. Bad try.

Their only success is about rallying a few millionaires behind them. They are the ones who have no sense of solidarity with the ordinary Seychellois. They did very well under the watch of Albert Rene, James Michel and Danny Faure. While COVID cases continue to increase in the world, they care little. Money they want. COVID we will get.

Look at Donald Trump, the president of the United States of America. His comments on COVID-19 have been the most contradictory. Now he has the virus, as if punished by God. His country is the most infected in the world.

He even said in June that “Our country wasn’t built to be shut down. This is not a country that was built for this.”

Trump insisted to reporters that “America will again and soon be open for business. Very soon. A lot sooner than three or four months that somebody was suggesting.”

And we all know that the USA has become the most dangerous COVID country. The world’s biggest COVID hotspot.

The airport in Seychelles has reopened since August after so many consultations. We know that tourist arrivals are trickling in.

We also know that all COVID cases are imported.

More tourists will automatically expose the country to more COVID cases. And then who will come to Seychelles when the country is infected?

That is what the millionaires want.

Afif will give them the money. Afif will facilitate the spread of COVID among our elderly and the rest of our population.
