Covid19 routines go smoothly as Airport reopens

By all accounts, the first two flights that came in on Saturday as our airport reopened for tourists went well, both for the tourists they brought in and for the Covid19 “new normal” measures that were in place.

Emirates flight EK705 from Dubai touched down at 6.30 a.m. with 175 passengers –tourists and Seychellois, followed 12 hours later by an Air Seychelles passenger flight from Mauritius.

Following safety protocols set up by the Health authority and the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), passengers were asked to leave the plane in batches of 30 to go through Immigration. Every passenger had their temperature checked and screened for any COVID-19 related symptoms and the Media were not allowed to speak to passengers.

Tourism minister Didier Dogley said that the process was a bit slow as this was the first time for the new procedures. He said all workers at the airport were wearing masks, maintaining the advised social distance and practising good hygiene.

“They donot have any fear that we were expecting them to have. They are taking their work seriously and have confidence in what they are doing and this is key for us. We are on the right track,” said Dogley.

The Seychelles Independent would like to welcome all the passengers to Seychelles –to those coming on holidays we say “Welcome to Seychelles thank you for coming” and “Welcome back home” to the residents.
