Sergei Kislov appointed Seychelles honorary consul in Moscow

The Son of Russian sunflower oil oligarch is now the Seychelles representative in Moscow. The position was created especially for him and it received the full backing of both the US and the LDS. It is reported that leaders from both political parties have been his guest in Moscow.

After consultation the leaders from both US and LDS gave the greenlight for the creation of this position and the Seychellois public was kept well in the dark about the appointment. Dmitry Sergeyevitch Kislov is the son of the billionaire Sergei Kislov who made his money in sunflower oil production and grain export in Russia.

On 4 September, an evening reception was held at the Hilton Labriz in Bel Ombre: the Russian ambassador to the Seychelles, Artyom Kozhin, invited the political elite of the country both executive and legislative to celebrate the appointment in May of the first Seychelles honorary consul in Moscow. The diplomatic post in our opinion was created especially for Dmitry Sergeyevitch Kislov, the son of one of the leading lights of Russia’s cooking oil industry, Sergei Kislov.

The father of the new Honorary Consul for Seychelles in Moscow built up his agribusiness empire in the wake of the collapse of the USSR through his holding company Yug Rusi, whose supervisory board was for a time chaired by his son.

In October 2019, Kislov and Yug Rusi, which also exports grain, hosted a delegation from the Seychelles led by the country’s president Danny Faure during the Africa-Russia summit. Seychelles al-ready had an honorary consul in Russia, but he was based in Saint Petersburg. Barry Faure, the Seychelles Secretary of State for foreign affairs and the brother of the president, gave the speech introducing Kislov.
