Letter to editor – SPTC Buses parking violation

Dear Editor,

The SPTC needs to warn its drivers of dangerous, negligence and illegal driving practices, which violate the traffic regulations and could lead to serious traffic accidents. For sometimes, the drivers of the state owned monopoly company have the habit of parking on the pedestrian pavement or at the entrance of the car parking area at Boston House and at the former Krishnan Mart Supermarket. They do this to attend to shop while causing traffic congestion and forcing traffic into the opposite lane with the traffic flowing towards them. The risks of traffic accidents are very high especially during peak hours. It is argued that the bus drivers are obliged to break the rules because where they usually parked their buses at the entrance of the bus terminals to go to the shops have been taken up by unlicensed taxis under the watch of government authorities. Therefore, road users would appreciate a change in behavior in the conduct of all road users for the safety of all in a society where many lacks basic commonsense…..
