The cost of Arrogance!

In a sane well-functioning society, such as what we’re trying to build in Seychelles, ARROGANCE of the Private sector can be as unhealthy, bad and damaging as arrogance of Government.

At least Government can arbitrate between good and bad in order to find the best for citizens whereas the private sector often moves ahead with self-interest.Several issues covered by this newspaper show the arrogance on both Private sector and Government, to the detriment of the Seychellois nation.

1. The Commissioner of Police doesn’t move one millimeter to explain to the people why 8 South African officers earn more than one million rupees a month between them while he is looking at cutting benefits and allowances of Seselwa officers.

2. The management of Constance Ephelia Hotel, the Ministry of Employment, the Ministry of Tourism, and Messrs. Guy Adam, Jean Weeling and Glenny Savy of CORVINA cannot reassure us that they will do something about the Ephelia Hotel’s expatriate-heavy management to the detriment of Seychellois.

3. And now the locally-incorporated management of Cable & Wireless Seychelles is turning a deaf ear to our call to clarify the health concerns of 5G technology which it is bragging about.

Government and the National Assembly, the people we elect to give us good governance, have a duty to reel them in and take them to task.

The Electorate awaits.
