PRESIDENT SETS UP ‘SEA HORSE’ ENQUIRY:

Did Glenny Savy gloat too soon?

Did IDC CEO Glenny Savy gloat too soon after the Court last month quashed the findings of the MAIB (Maritime Accident Investigation Board) on the sinking of the ‘Sea Horse’ in 2018 in which four crew members disappeared?

The crew were declared dead by the Chief Justice last month but the families of the men have never given up in their search for answers.Last week after a long meeting between the families and the President at State House, President Faure announced the setting up of a Commission of Enquiry in the incident, in the presence of Attorney-General Frank Ally.

AG Ally said the Commission will begin investigations on a clean slate, although they may use the MAIB report as a reference. The MAIB Report was quashed on a technicality last month after Judge Vidot ruled that it was not carried out under the correct section of legislation and that there were no regulations in place. In a subsequent meeting with IDC’s Savy after the State House meeting the families were informed that the matter of compensation for the dead crew of ‘Sea Horse’ was now in the hands of the insurance company SACOS.

Watch this apace.
