Sathya Naidu starts campaign on a bad note

Dear Sir,

LDS may well have made a very big mistake in selecting Sathya Naidu as the National Assembly election candidate for the Saint Louis constituency. In the party’s convention to officially present its candidates all the prospective MNAS got a chance to say something and Naidu really put his foot in it. Claiming excitement he screamed out how he was going to bring about radical change in the district. He clearly forgot that St. Louis has been an SNP and now LDS stronghold since the third National Assembly elections and that since over all these years the party has not been able to bring about the pro-found change he is shouting for, it does not bode well for his cam-paign. His body language exuded arrogance and his tone of voice was aggressive.

He did not fit in with the general air of calmness and serenity which Ramkalawan and team The Seychelles People’s Defence Forces (SPDF) has refiled its petition against the Truth, Reconciliation and National Unity Commission (TRNUC) as ordered by Supreme Judge Gustave Dodin on July 31.This change remedies the misnomer wherein the SPDF initially filed the petition as SPDF versus the TRNUC, in-stead of the Attorney General versus TRNUC.TRNUC’s lawyer Karen Domingue, had brought this matter as one of her objections by arguing that the plaintiff, SPDF, should have filed the suit under the name of its superviso-ry legal body, the Attorney Gen-eral.To note, the defence forces is represented by Stefan Knights, a state counsel in the office of the Attorney General.

Ramkalwan – to run Seychelles as a business serve. The LDS top guy said that there should be equal access to opportunities and to assistance and work, but in the same breath he talks about running the country as a business, but conveniently forgets that equal access does not exist in business! He did not even give his commitment to provide this equal opportunity but he managed to give his word to the business sector. What is strange about this declaration from the LDS candidate is that Ramkalawan have never had or done any business on an elevated scale in his life. This is a ploy to try fool people that he will make this country prosperous. It is an empty promise just like the ones he made before the National Assembly elections of 2016 and has not delivered on any during the last four years as the majority party in the parliament. We hope the people have taken note!

Businessman Sathya Naidu starts campaign on a bad note were trying to impart during the convention last Friday. Naidu is already going into the campaign at a time when public opinion is not necessarily in favor of ethnic minorities, especially those of Indian origins. Most local mer-chants are of Indian origins and the local citizens see them as profiteering from the COVID19 pandemic crisis to hike up pric-es. Naidu’s own father is the Chairman of the Retailers Association and he has been try-ing to work alongside the Fair Trading Commission to resolve some issues. Unfortunately his son’s first public appearance on the political scene has left a sour taste in the mouth of the public who viewed it over YouTube. It is also worth noting that in the last elections Parti Lepep now US closed the margin in the Saint Louis district from over one thousand to less than three hundred votes.
